What do you know about Lo Jack?
Do you know how much lo-jack costs and how much of a discount in insurance it permits? I can't seem to get this info from lo jack itself without talking to a salesperson (yikes!).

Have you checked out their website? http://www.lojack.com/ You might also do a search in this forum for past discussions about the pros/cons of the system.
I know that Lo Jack isn't available everywhere. My guess would be that it is available in Chi-Town though. It runs about $400 dollars, one time cost. And it gives a discount in insurance that will pay for itself over a couple of years. If I were you, I'd call the police department and ask them if their squad cars are equiped with Lo Jack detection equipment, and then ask them if they think it would help much in finding your car. I know in San Diego they have Lo Jack, but the little finder just points south most of the time because almost all stolen cars sit in Mexico.
I wouldn't bother with it personally. If your car gets stolen, cash in and get a new one. If you're really worried, put the club on it and park it in a garage. That should keep all the amateurs away.

If you want the car back, and the area around you is covered, then it is worth the cost. Shouldn't be more then $550. You can usually order straight from LoJack, but the price might be higher then you can get from a dealer. It will not keep people from taking your car, but can help you get it back if it is taken.
As for the 'club', that is something I wouldn't bother with. All it takes is to cut the steering wheel, and slide it off. You can cut it (the wheel) with simple bolt cutters, or a hack saw, and only takes a few seconds.
I've lost two S2000's and have now installed LoJack on my current vehicle.

If someone steals my baby...I wouldn't want it back. But the reason I got Lojack is for the insurance, it will save 35% on your insurance(I think it's just the comprehensive).... It will pay for itself in about three year....than after that you are still saving money on insurance.
I paid $550 with installation at the dealer when I purchase the car.
If they want to steal your car....one way or another they'll steal it. You can't watch it 24/7.
Just my 2cents

except for the insurance discounts which really aren't much....maybe 5%-10% off a year it would eventually pay itself off but do you need 400 now as opposed to 50bux every year more?
think of it that way

I'm very surprised Lojack hasn't come out with a pager device which lets you know if your car is moved while you're away from it. It's not much use if you have Lojack, but you go to watch a movie for 3 hours, and then leave the theater to find your car gone. Most cops will tell you that even if you have Lojack, if you haven't reported a theft within 30 minutes, you can practically forget about getting your car back. Imagine.....once a stolen car gets inside a closed, lined garage, there isn't much opportunity for the Lojack signal to penetrate the walls and get picked up by a patrol car.
BTW. I happen to have a Lojack installed, but wish now I hadn't been suckered into buying one. On reflection, if the difficulty of someone stealing the S2K (without the key) had been properly explained to me by the dealer, and I then considered the pros and cons of Lojack, it would have been an obvious choice that Lojack is practically a waste of money. The odds are much more in your favor against having your S2K stolen, than the possibility of getting your car back (and undamaged) if it is stolen. My advice would be to invest in the best alarm system you can afford; you'll sleep better at nights.
