Sometime early next year.

Anyone who was at the APEX (the equipment side of SEMA) in Vegas could see the proliferation of lower priced aluminum racing jacks. They were practically at every hydraulic lift booth.

I know first hand that they should be out no later than the second quarter of next year on a national level. However, smaller retailers or local chains could begin retailing them sooner.

If you don't need super low profile, don't need aluminum, but still want a garage jack as opposed to the small dinky floor type units, get the Michelin unit. You won't be disappointed.

Looks a little funky... I might withhold final judgement till I saw one.

I decided on the HF jack after I went to the local HF store and checked it out. They also had it on sale for $180, no shipping, which made the decision even easier!

I bought the 3.5 ton jack at Sam's for $50 a year ago. Works great and can get the car very high if need be.

It's priced at $289 while the Harbor Freight sells for $199. It's also rated at 2 ton and the Harbor Freight is rated at 3 ton. It weighs 3 lbs more and doesn't go as low or as high as the Harbor Freight.

The Harbor Freight jack has a fantastic finish and is very precise. All of the Sebring Silver drivers will love this jack, since it looks like Sebring Silver.

I have the Harbor Freight jack and I think it's great!
I even paid only $169 because I told them I've been waiting for
it since they last had it at that price a few months ago. Such a deal!!!

I returned a 3.5 ton Craftsman jack to Sears because it didn't fit under the side jack points on my non-lowered car.

I just got the Harbor Freight jack and like it a lot. It's perfect for use at autocrosses and track events - light enough to throw in my utility trailer and low enough to work on the side jack points. It has a nice, rubber padded lift point too. I use a 2 ton Milwaukee jack in the garage at home. It fits all the jack points, but weight more than double the HF weight.

Just to clarify a few points made earlier in this thread:
1) The Harbor Freight jack will reach the rear, differential jack point, but there isn't sufficient clearance under the bumper to pump it up (the full-length handle doesn't have enough clearance with the bumper). It does not fit under the front jack point at the frame cross member.
2) The jack I received has a 3,000 lb rating (1.5 ton), not 3 ton (6,000 lb).

All in all, an excellent value at $200. Mine took 10 business days to arrive to me in south FL with the free shipping.

Thanks Josh, mine is rated at 3000 lbs as well. I saw 3000 and thought 3 ton.

Sorry,
Bob

Make sure you center the car on the HF jack pad. Mine cracked from an off center load....

Not true!! I just used mine this morning to lift the rear end. It easily reaches the diff and
there is plenty of room to pump it up!!

Just bought one of these:

Cost the equivalent of about $78.00 US.
It's good enough for my needs.
