Why does this remind me of the old joke about having Mike Tyson use certain words in a sentence

Monoque construction, also known as "unit body", is where body parts serve as stressed structural members. This is in contrast to various body-on-frame construction techniques, where everything is attached to an internal stressed frame, and the body panels don't carry any load.

The term "Monocoque" usually referrs to hallow structure without frames inside. Monocoque structures are strong and light. So when you hear someone referring to term "Carbon Fiber Monocoque" picture a hallow tube like structure made out of carbone fiber. Rocket or aircraft fuselage is good examples of monocoque.

As far as monocoque structure utilized in race cars or highend exotics goes, it isn't entirely monocoque with framless body. actually shell like structure of carbonfiber is wrapped around reinforced metal frame that forms a shape of base frame of a car.

Here is Carerra GT carbon monocoque frame as an example.
