Default What the Hell? (Pics Inside)

Hopefully you guys can help me out here, I wasn't too sure where to post this.

I recently bought T1R B-Max Coilovers from an independent seller who was a former employee of AJ-Racing. I bought the coilovers for a great price brand new and they were shipped super-fast. When I opened them up though, I noticed my two rear coilovers didn't have any T1R badging, not a word on them, not even what country they were made in. My car is in storage so I just wanted to clean them off and put them away. Then I noticed that on all the springs there was a white residue. Under the residue is an extremely faint marking that may have been wiped off. It read: "MaxSpeed." It was a logo. It had a checkered flag at the end of the final letter. I searched Google and MaxSpeed makes springs and coilovers. All products made in the USA. They sell yellow colored springs, but none for the S2000. They do sell two sets of coilovers for the S2000 though. 4-way adjustable dampening, twin-tube design: but they're different colours than mine.

Anyhow, below are some pics of the coilovers. If you own T1R coilovers, or you've actually seen them in person, please let me know what you think of the authenticity of these.

Do all T1R coilovers have Max Speed Performance Inc. springs?

I spoke with the seller and he's a very nice guy. He claims these coilovers are authentic and I am a paranoid engineer.. maybe I am.

I also spoke with Dickson at AJ-Racing and he also is a very, very nice guy. He explained that the person who sold these to me actually picked them up from him and he was a former employee.

Please let me know what you think guys? Thank you.

Also, what do those numbers on the springs mean? I know length and spring rate, but how do you decipher them? Thanks again.

lol maxspeed is a company that produces generic perofrmance parts for alot of things. Looks like T1R is using their springs for their set of coilovers if it is indeed genuine T1R. The numbers probably represent the sprint rate or the part number.

im pretty sure the T1R B-Max coilovers have blue shocks like those, not sure about the springs tho.

the pic on AJ-R site for the BMaxR dampers is found at this link: http://www.aj-racing.com/catalog/product.p...0&cat=81&page=5

they look just like what you got. black springs. no close ups tho. hope this helps.

- I think your coilovers are real. They look real to me. I have T1R B-maxR coilovers and i bought them from Ajr.

- First 3 numbers on the springs tell you the length of the springs (180) and the other 2 tells you the stiffness of the springs (10). The other numbers tell you the production date of the springs (10/05).

- I dont have Maxspeed logo anywhere on my coilovers. Hope this helps.

Thanks. The MaxSpeed logo is extremely hard to see. That picture I posted took forever to take because it would never show. It's just a tint of it. All T1R's may have this logo under close inspection.

In regards to the spring code, I think you're right. However, my rear springs and your rear springs look identical. 18010 10/05: 180 mm long, 10kgf/mm stiffness, October 2005 production date.

My fronts are: 200 mm long, 10 kgf/mm stiffness, June 2006 production date.

Again, the MaxSpeed logo is extremely faint and takes a good light, a lot of squinting, and more than likely the coilover would have to be in your hand.

Sounds like a swap job. I can't explain the scratches by the maxspeed logo, but none elsewhere. The white shavings look like an elaborate imprinting job. I'm not accusing anyone of being a liar, but nice doesn't mean anything. Fake peeps are always nice in person.

You're right about people, but it just doesn't make sense. He told me he didn't even open the box after visiting AJ. When I received the coilovers the invoice was taped neatly in an envelope outside the box. To me that proves that the box wasn't opened.

Anybody have T1R's laying around or coming real soon? Check this for us.

even reputable JDM tuners sometimes rebadged products of other brands and claimed them to be their own.

Just take a look at the J's racing oversize BBK, it's just Endless BBK in a different color.

I am not accusing anyone here, just stating a point.
