My S2000 is coming up for its oil change, and I was wondering what would be the best oil to use?
My dealer uses Castrol GTX 10W40.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Castrol GTX 10W30.

 

Bought the S in January '03. Currently has 4200 miles. Daily commutes to work approximately 9 miles one way. Should I change the oil now?

 

My suggestion, smack your dealers service manager with the Honda S2000 manual for using the wrong oil and specifically request that they follow the instructions for your car if they are going to do the work.

Or, buy your own 10W-30 and filter and either have them use it or change it yourself.

Try to keep that break-in oil until 7500. I got my S in January and have about 5200 miles. I will be changing it soon most likely before I put it away for the winter.

 

change at 3750 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. thats why i did and my oil came out very thick and black. oil loses its effectiveness of protecting the engine as time goes by...



btw i use castrol gtx 10w30.

 

I was mistaken, the extreme condition was for 5 miles or less commute, unless of course you are in stop and go traffic. Here is a complete maintenance schedule for both conditions:
