I don't have any pics but I will try and describe it best I can...

"Orange Peel" is a term used to describe the textured surface that sometimes is the result of a bad paint job. It pretty much has the look/texture of an actual orange peel. I am not 100% on what the cause is, but it is almost as if the clear coat is sprayed on before the color coat(s) hasn't dried completely and it ripples the color coat giving it the orange peel look.

Hope that helps a little.

Its used to describe the bumpy, irregular surface of the paint. Its amazing that Honda still can't get our paint job right.

You'll find that any car regardless of manufacturer or price will probably have some degree of orange peel. It's difficult to get a mass produced paint job perfectly smooth. The next time your town has an auto show, look very closely down the side of a $14k Kia and a $140k Mercedes S55. Both will have imperfections.

Only a car that has been wet sanded and hand polished/buffed will have zero orange peel.

I was gonna mention in my previous post that while I didn't know if it existed on all s2k's I have some on both my doors(near the top) which scared the crap outta me when I noticed it because I bought my car used. I have since seen two other NFR s2000's and they had it in the same spots so I felt a lot better about it. Plus I know the previous owner of my car so I trust them when they said that they had no paint work done.

Gee, the paint on my '02 is terrific. I have some small chips on the front end from road debris, but I've always felt the overall paint job was quite good.

Perhaps it's a little hard to judge with metallic paints though because they have inherent imperfection. Black and red are probably the two S2000 colors that you can use to judge quality of paint.
