Lightbulb What shoes do you wear?

Friends and I got in a little debate whether what shoe you actually drive helps you shift better , worse or doesn't affect you at all when at the track or weekend racing.
Just wanted to know if racing shoes actually help in tracks or circuit racing. If so, what shoe would you recommend? Some say they drive better bare foot. Just wanted to know if it is something worth investing in. Thanks

A couple I found and quite expensive

unless you need nomex that has an sfi or fia rating, i would save my money. if you are only doing hpde's, autocross and weekend canyon carving just go get a pair of piloti driving shoes. i have a pair of cheap non fire retardant low cut pumas. they worked great for my skip barber schools. mostly, a thin soled shoe helps you "feel" the pedals better, and in case of the skippy cars are necessary to fit in the tight foot boxes.

just my 2 cents.

i have found that i heel-toe better in my work boots and dress shoes then in my pumas.
the reason for that is simply because i'm wearing those while driving more often then i do with the pumas. the boots gets daily "seat" time and i've gotten used to how they feel.

^I'm the other way. I can't shift that great in boots, ok in dress shoes and great in my Pumas or my Nike indoor soccer shoes. I take my flip flops off when I drive b/c I don't like them.

I used to run adidas adi racers and now I'm running puma inflection str. I like to run a thin sole. Gives me better pedal feel and little to no heel helps me heel-toe. But like jeggy said, consistency is key.
