AP1 = the car Honda designed to celebrate 50 years in racing.

AP2 = the same car with "improvements" made to address consumer complaints.

In the US, all the AP2's have a 2200cc engine (F22C) rather than the original 2000cc engine (F20C), and the F20C has a higher redline (but less torque and power because of the reduced displacement).

I *think* the newer cars (MY06 and up) in other markets (outside the US) may also have the F22C, but I'm not certain of that.

In '06, JDM also switched to the F22C.
EUDM is still F20C for the '06 -- don't know about the '07 though.

FYI, under my hood, where the chasis # is located, my EUDM '06 says AP1, although obviously we have the AP2 dash, suspension, wheels, VSA, etc.
