What Size tank do we have?
The fuel in the tank is used to cool the fuel pump too I believe, so running bone dry is bad for that reason and others. Like someone earlier said, dividing calculated distance since last fill up by the volume of fuel you just put in is the best way to calculate, but its impossible to be 100% accurate.

light comes on for me between 10 and 11, usually on the higher side of 10. I only get between 200 to 250 for 10ish gallons. So worst case scenario I should get 260 for the tank.
That's typically my scenerio as well.
I've filled 11.5 gallons once and I normally get 280-320 per tank ... this last tank really hurt the pockets though ... 245. 
I drive like a granny to and from work throughout the week and on the weekends I make a few spirited drives on this road I know of that rarely (if ever) has traffic on it.
