What are some easy and Cheap ways to Mod the S?
I have had my S for a while now, and I see most people on the boards have done something to their car. Be it engine mods, appearance, or some type of accessory. What I was wondering is, what are some good mods to go with. I would like some HP gain, but nothing to completely forget about the warranty
. Guess I am just looking for some personal opinions. My car is an 01 Berlina/Red completely stock as of right now. Give me some opinions please. TIA

haha I don't really have proof that it improves power much, but my butt dyno showed me that the car pulls harder, and the sound is awsome!! just imagine the stock engine roar X2 or even 3 hahah. By some of the dynos that people posted on this, they showed that it adds torque, and adds some HP. all for under 300.

Someone posted a dyno chart showing a 1 or 2 hp loss for the K&N; a search should find it.
My recommended mods/accessories:
- a "lifetime" air filter (K&N or JR) is cheap and easy
- the Denso Iridiums are not cheap for plugs, but cheap in the grand scheme of things, plus they're easy and make a marked improvement
- an xviper-style radiator shield mat (do a search) makes a huge difference on warm days, and is absolutely dirt cheap
- definitely get a Muz rear window mat
- a nice shifter knob is always a good thing; the Honda Ti or Voodoo knobs are great
- gotta get an aluminum dead pedal!
- the plug-in replacement speaker upgrades (see board sponsor HandA Accessories) are cheap and easy and make a world of difference
- If you're tallish, one of the larger windscreens (Rick's or Mingster's) is nice to have
- depending on your car color (red, yellow, suzuka blue esp.), I think removing the windshield tape makes the car look even nicer (esp. if you get a hardtop)
- are Rick's visor stickers (to cover the airbag warning) still around?
- I like my little Honda-logo valve stem caps (HandA again)
- gotta get an S2000 key chain!
Cheers!

I am cheap. I am easy. Here's what I did in chronological order:
OEM front lip: The car looks bubbly and floaty without this item (especially w/ the stock rims). I ordered it the day I got the car from www.handa-accessories.com. Out of all the sponsors I've dealt with, Trevor's business has been the most pleasant/simple in taking my money and delivering the product in exchange. $360.
Muz rear well mat: Gotta have mod. You can put a towel in there or whatever that'll keep the plastic window from touching the plastic bottom, but it doesn't look nice. Forget the Muz window protector. Doesn't do jack. $35.
Throttle body bore: Noticed no gains and there aren't any dynos that I know of out there that have shown gains/losses. I did it because it was only $124 and a tough mod to get done if I didn't live in Seattle. I ran against another bud's S2000 and we were dead even with just this mod. Would I do it again? Probably not.
Calipers painted red: Improves the look a lot! $8, friend's tools, and a lot of time.
Voodoo knob in pearl: You definitely notice the shorter throws the first couple of days you drive it. After that, I totally can't tell now. It's not a must-have mod. The Voodoo knob just has a different feel. But the quality is excellent and Bob's a cool guy to deal with. $34 for the pearl one. The titanium one is like $125 and heavier. Some people attest to its throw weight as being better, but to me, that isn't worth the $100 price hike. Plus it's uglier being all shiny. Just doesn't look right in the cabin.
MG Racing filter: Did it because my stock one was dirty and it would've been stupid to spend $34 on another stock filter when I could spend $52 for the permanent MG Racing one with proven, albeit minimal, gains. Fit is perfect. No oiling required. I don't get why everyone's so crazy about the J&R over this one. Maybe cuz several people have dynoed their cars J&R equipped, but the MG Racing filter showed the same gains from an earlier filter v. filter v. filter showdown.
Red H badges: Bought the cheap-ass red ones, but they look good. Looking to get the JDM ones, but it'll basically look the same to everyone else but me. $20. $60 for the JDM ones.
Shaved S2000 badges: Looks a lot cleaner, but this is totally an up-to-you mod.
OEM rear spoiler: After seeing another bud's S2000 with this spoiler and this black one around town with one, I just had to get it. At first I didn't like it at all, but it definitely grew on me like a fungus. Ordered it from Trevor. $360. The car looks great with stock rims and the OEM front / rear spoiler combo.
Comptech exhaust: Loud. Adds character. Proven to add a few ponies and a lil' bit of torque throughout the rev range. Ran against the same bud's S2000 and I was definitely pulling a bit. It's all shiny from the back and I thought I didn't like that style until I saw it in person. It glimmers and it's very showy. I always thought I was going to go with HKS, but I've heard the sound in person and it sounds farty and the two pipes get brown looking over time. The Comptech one can't be found at discount prices and it's all stainless steel so if I ever want to sell it, I'll get a bit more back than I would with HKS, Neuspeed, etc. But that's not going to happen. I love this exhaust. You gotta hear exhausts in person. Don't even bother listening to the vids or reading up on another person's description.
This has got to be my longest post, ever. Hopefully I didn't waste your time. Good luck, man.
