does the tapered part face the back or the front?

I believe the spring goes toward the front.

I just installed Rick's sidemarkers an hour ago and I installed the same as they were on the car - slant to the rear.

They go in either way. Whichever you prefer is fine.

i dont think you can install it anyway. this is due to the fact the the hole has a notch for something and the spring doesnt fit well on that side

push the marker towards the front end of your car and then lift up the back end...should pop right out...

I use a credit card to slide under the light and push the latch in.
