Default What will the dealer do?

This is a fun thing. I am going to take my car in for a test session for a 1st to 2nd grind and 1st gear sticking when talking it out of gear. What do you think the dealer will say to me. I have a MY02'

I'll update after my dealer visit so you can see if you were correct in guessing

I wish you luck...

When you go in, make sure you explain the exact conditions when, how often, and for how long these problems have occurred. If you're as specific as possible, that'll raise your chances of the tech being able to duplicate your problems- thus being able to properly fix it.

I don't know how good your relationship is with the dealership, but as the old saying goes, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Hopefully they'll fix everything for you.

If it is a good dealer they will ask a lot of questions.

If it is sticking coming out of 1st, is that when coming to a stop? While already at a stop? Cold? Hot?
It could be the clutch disk getting hung up on the (dirty) splines of the transmission main shaft and not pulling away from the flywheel slightly. The problem is when they pull out the transmission it destroys the evidence of dirty splines. It happens sometimes to cars with over 30 or 40k miles.

Is it hard to get into 1st or reverse when the engine is cold? Does it fall into gear if you turn off the key while holding slight pressure on the shifter w/the clutch all the way in?

You didn't say how many miles are on the car.

Trying to help,
Woodwork

If they're anything like my dealer, they'll tell you they can't reproduce it. I've been having problems with my transmission since 600 miles and they refuse to even acknowledge there's a problem. It's to the point now that I have to half-engage the clutch to get into second gear... and now my clutch is slipping (due to slipping it every time I go into 2nd). All this at 9,000 miles!

Depends. Which dealer are you going to?

The car has to be broken down before the dealer can find the problem.

but it is pretty difficult to put it into 1st when even rolling slowly.
I have this problem as well in my MY02 and it's pretty annoying. Have to come to a complete stop sometimes before it will go back into first. Instead I find myself accelerating from a slow roll out of second many times so I can avoid stopping completely. PITA.

I've heard quite a few people say they were disgusted when they changed the fluid in their diff. I think I would definitely put mine on about a 30k change schedule
