Default What would YOU do?

Ive got a 2003 s2k and about 4500 to 5000 to spend on mods, I can take care of suspension and handling mods but i dont know a thing about tuning hondas

I'm looking to know the best bang for the buck for hp gains

i.e. which exhaust gives most gains, which intake, etc

Looking to stay naturally aspirated unless a reliable super/turbocharger setup can be had

Any input would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

If you haven't taken a driving school, do that before you spend money making the car faster. After a driving school and 1000+ track miles, I still treat the car with great circumspection.

comptech is a reliable supercharger for the car. About $4200 w/o the aftercooler.

You won't find much gains by using aftermarket parts on the S. Your best advantage in going aftermarket is to save weight. You can shed 30lbs or more by changing the exhaust. For the intake, get a AEM V2 or similar unless you drive it in the rain alot.

As for the other things, search around on the site. There have been a million comparisons so far and people asking which one of something is better.

Oh yeah, don't forget to put some money aside for new tires as they tend to be pretty expensive and not last long. S02's (which I assume you're on now) get about 10k miles on average.

And as ElTianti mentioned, use some cash to do track days or autox or instruction or something. The most fun you'll have with the S will be at the track.

Save money for tires, alignments, maintenence, and some driving classes. A super charger is nice, but you'll still need tires just the same. Maybe weekend at some track would be fun? Don't make the mistake of dumping a ton dollars into mod's then you don't money to do an oil change, get wipers, pay excise tax, etc...

Thanks for the input on the intake

This car is not my daily driver, more of a toy. I plan on dumping money into until I can beat my sons subaru... Well not really. But i'm going to build it mainly for the track and i need a little more umph on the straight aways.

Do you recommend changing plugs/wires?

And can anyone recommend a high flow exhaust system that still stays with the dual layout, i know the singles tend to flow best but id like to keep with the look of the car. Money really isnt an option so any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Get some 4.77 gears, some people call them the poor mans supercharger. I have heard it maked a great diffrence and the car accelarates alot better. You will loose some top end speed, but its worth it.

I suggest you don't change the plugs. Wires are a different story since we don't have those silly things.

Definatly without a doubt, forced induction is the way to go. I prefer supercharger with this car, others prefer turbo, but if your looking for bang for buck hp wise, you cant go wrong with either one.
