What are your thoughts on this deal?....
I've got an opportunity to buy a 2002 black/black with just 6,600 miles on it. Meticulously maintained, and all original. Price would be $24k. Here's the catch...it's actually outside the 3-year warranty now, so there is no warranty. This would be a huge move for me....what are your thoughts. I love the black, and I've researched everything thoroughly. Just curious on the opinions of the price/car deal.

sounds like a deal... you may want to have a mechanic look at it just to be extra safe. As for the lack of warranty, that should not be a huge issue. Car Sales, I believe are required to have an implied 30 day warranty to protect against lemons (at least in some states). Outside of this, there are not a lot of things that the honda extended warranty covers that are not "wear" items, and that are not part of the drivetrain (which should be covered for 7 years or 100k i believe).
If the drivetrain warranty applies i say go for it!

He didn't mention if its from a private party or a dealership; it its PP then no warranty is implied and I would assume it varys state-to-state if its from a dealership. If its from a dealership, make sure its "Honda Certified" to get the extended warranty (if they're offering this).
It's from a private party....guy has been very helpful and is trying to get out from under the lease. He has never taken it above 7k RPM or 80 mph. It's got a tiny door ding from another car door, but other than that it seems perfect.
So the consensus here is that $24k even with no warranty is acceptable?

KBB PP value is just $21k and change. I think the extra money in this case is a function of how little the car has been used and the condition of it. It literally looks and drives brand new. But on the other hand $24k is a lot for a 2002.
Hmmm,
Brand new 05 30k you know the history of the car since there isn't one yet...
24k for a 02 with 6k on it. The seller can say anything he wants, but you can never know for sure how the car was treated.
I thought about buying used but decided to spend more for new after reading about posts from people who wanted advice on how to do 8K launches or that guy who couldn't figure out why he couln't get into VTec 2 minutes after starting the engine.
Of course not everyone can afford to buy a new S but if you're thinking of paying 24k already why not go for the peace of mind a new one will give you?
