whats the deal with the new MR2 Spyder
A friend says that the MR2 spyder will give the S2K a run for the money. He swears by this... I am trying to find him an MR2 to buy but there are simply none available. What's the deal? I need to find one so I can blow his doors off.
He designs electronic engine control modules for auto companies. And claims it is no problem to change timing and fuel ratios to easily obtain 210 HP from this engine.
He is a Senior embedded systems design engineer for an OEM supplier. this guy is dead serious....

I would politely suggest your friend has his head embedded somewhere. Even if he could produce a lot more horsepower, just driving a new MR2 could make him barf. I drove one before getting my Stook, and the feel of the MR2 is cheap and the handling is dumpy. It sort of reminds me of a Japanese version of a Porsche 914.

I traded my 2000 MR2 Spyder for my 2001 Stook and they are not in the same league. The Spyder is a fun car and a great value for the money, but it is not near as powerful, doesn't handle like the S2K, and is just a much cheaper car and I don't mean money wise. As far as computer chips and such, couldn't the same thing be done to the S2K? In other words if your going to trick out the MR2, then your not comparing stock cars.
My friend bought a MR2 2 months ago. I think the handling is pretty comparable with S2000 other than the HP and style. It is agile and crisp steering wheel. We drove it on the track and it does handle quite well, if not better than the S2000. However, it does need a more powerful engine. What was Toyota thinking? I always think Toyota is selling their cars too overpriced anyway.
