Whats the difference between a cheap CAI and the expensive ones?

I have seen them range from $50 to about $350.

Probably materials. A CAI, regardless of price, will give you minimal added performance at best.

Fitment mainly. No power difference. And don't fall for the new AEM V2 hype. It's all bogus. The gains they report are so samll that they can also be attributed to dyno error.

You don't have to cut the hood for any of the AEM intakes. The only intakes that would require you to cut the hood is the J's, Mugen, and I think the Spoon.

You don't have to cut the hood for any of the AEM intakes. The only intakes that would require you to cut the hood is the J's, Mugen, and I think the Spoon.
Minor correction: Aem requires to cut your underbody tray to put the filter in.

Spoon snorkle do not require any cutting. The other one that need cutting the hood is ASM>

just installed Spoon yesterday.....no hood cutting required, just a little hood latch adjustment.

Only cutting involved with spoon is the radiator cover near the hood latch.
