Default Whats the difference between a X-Brace,

i know what they all look like... im trying to understand what function they serve on the car/suspension and if they all go together, or if 1 replaces the other...etc...

the lower arm bar im talking about is the U-shaped Cusco bar and the chassis brace im talking about is the Cusco 3-piece chassis brace...

thanks.

I would like to hear some good descriptions of how these actually affected the behavior of the car. Right now I'm fairly set on the Muz whiteline front brace and Cusco 3pc chassis brace, but I'm still not very clear on the effect of the Cusco 3pc.

As someone who had most of these on his car, I can comment based on my own experiences.

The 3 piece chasis bar didn't do much for me. Granted I was running a Cusco Front Sway Bar paired with a Speed X-Brace before I put the 3 piece on and someone else may notice a difference with only the 3 piece. The tie bar = nothing much.

The X-Brace made the car tighter going over bumps - it did not add to the tightness of the S2000 on a smooth road. The biggest difference was the front sway bar . It totally changed the car. Before I sold my S I sold the sway bar and put the stock sway back on to find the S a little less agressive in turns. I would say that the added solidness of an aftermarket sway bar made me more confident in all sorts of turns

If I were to buy another S2000 and do it all over again I would definitely buy a front sway bar (preferably an adjustable one) and forego all the other little stiffeners......maybe buy a X-Brace

I would spend all the money I could afford on kick-ass coilovers with as wide a wheel as I could get in the rear and the most sticky tires I could get my hands on. Then I'd call it a day on suspension.

I agree with the last post except I went with the Cusco U bar instead of one of the x braces--it mounts up above the lowest suspension point on the car and doesn't lower (the already low) ground clearance of the car as some of the X bars do--plus it's one of the cheapest at $150 shipped from Gruppe-S.
As Poindexter says--it doesn't make any difference on smooth roads but I can tell the difference on bumpy one--it keeps the front of the car more stable over them.
There's a lot of past posts on these topics--you can do a search for "x brace" and "Cusco " and find a lot of discussions

I forgot about the Cusco U-Bar. That is the one I'd get if I were in the market for a X-Brace. Good call jetboater

You mentioned clearance and price, but you didn't mention the oil change factor (the U-Brace isn't in the way).

good point---some of the X braces are right under the oil drain plug so it'sdifficult to get the bolt off and oil gets alll over the brace as it drains out --the Cucso goes around the engine on both sides so it's not in the way.
