What's The Fastest Color?
Hi all,
My nephew just completed a course on the colors of cars and how they relate to the speed of the car.
Silver was fastest, I won't go out on a limb here... well ok I guess I will I think it must be Sebring silver...
Seriously, most of the findings revolve around heat dissipation and the coefficient of friction of the color against the wind and or surrounding air.
Solid or deep hughes absorb heat from the sun resulting in hotter engine bay temperatures and declining performance. These colors are commonly reds, blacks even yellow.
Other colors are non pigmented (white or silver) but silver for it

I'm sure your nephew is a great person, but that information is wrong.
The reason black cars (in this case S2000's) run hotter isn't because they are absorbing heat or some such nonsense, it is because they are going faster than the other colors.

My guess is that unless your nephew is majoring in thermodynamics, this is really more about his wanting to drive his uncle Sebring silver S2000, than about what color is fastest. And i suspect that color has NOTHING to do with speed. If it did, all NASCAR racers would be painted silver, yet, come to think of it, I can't think of one that is!
I can see it now, all those Berlina, New Formula, Suzuka, Grand Pree, Rio, Spa, S2000 tuners, racing off to the paint shop for the latest mod. Make mine sislver on silver.
Incidentlly - they didn't paint the SR71 black to make it go slower! (speed mach 3, really).
