whats happening to the s2000
In my view, two things would be OK:
1) Have it last forever, albeit through several morphings. That hasn't seemed to hurt the Mustang or the 'vette.
2) Have Honda keep the name plate, but totally change/ruin the car to appeal to a broader audience. Then we'd have the equivalent of the '55 - '57 t-birds. Not a bad deal either.
I would not like to see the nameplate go away. Out of sight = Out of mind. (Anyone seen a Datsun 1600 or 2000 lately?) With regard to insurance and repair costs, it didn't hurt too much for stock RX-7s, but there were a zillion of them out there. In our case, with limited production, things could get very inconvenient/expensive.

I did the math and figured that I would pay more insurance on this car than I would ever get fixed. I mean what are the chances of me getting into a wreck? And even if I did, what are the chances that I would total the car? And if I did, what are the chances that it will be my fault? All the wrecks I have been in have been someone elses fault except one, and the damage to my car was only $1700... and my deductible was $500, so I only got $1200 from the insurance company. I paid $1350 every 6 months. Man forget full coverage, it's a rip off!!!
Plus I drive my Civic (beater) 75% of the time and I travel 70% for my job and have company insurance when I rent cars. So the times that I am home and am driving the S2000 is not worth paying $1350 every 6 months. If I have to eat my words, I will let you guys know, I promise.
