What's a Mangusta?
Just saw a blue 2-seater H.T. Coupe in the parking lot. Two dual exhaust pipes. The only name I could see looked like Mangusta, which I have never heard of.
Anybody?

Was at one time made by DeTomaso, the same people that brought you the Pantera in the early 70's. Now an Italian built front engine rear drive brought to you by Qvale. Check this link:

i think the biggest attraction of the car is its top.
it can be targa top/ convertible/ hard top all at the same time.
big v8 mustang engine-
performance can be quite brutal,
but that's about it...
as far as its soft suspension goes, not a good track car,
nor a weekend cruiser- as they are REALLY loud.
also heard that the quality is just not up to its 80,000 + price tag.
no worries, your s2000 is still better!

Thanks for the info. This one is slightly different than the pictures above, but looks like an Italian design. The leather interior looks very luxurious!
I'd rather have 2+ S2000's for the same money though.

The original Mangusta (Italian for Mongoose) was a mid-engined Ford powered vehicle built be Alejandro de Tomaso (an Argentine by the way) in the late '60's. Its main unusual characterisitc was a set of centrally-hinged longitudinal engine bay "lids". It was the immediate predecessor to the more famous Pantera that was sold in the US by Lincoln-Mercury.
The Qvale Mangusta while not a styling masterpiece does have pretty good performance with the Cobra dohc V-8. It was very successful in SCCA Trans Am racing the last couple of years although the race car is a tube-frame purpose-built chassis with Mangusta-like body panels hung on the outside to identify its make. And the use of the Cobra engine and fuel injection was not allowed in Trans Am so it made do with the same pushrod Ford with carburetor tha the Mustangs used at the time.
