What's with the messed up tags???

Looks to be line breaks aren't being replaced properly.

Actually those are html tags (except the smilies). Next time you make a post, notice thatt HTML is turned off. That's the problem, I have no idea why....

I've got trailing slash marks in the tags, so they are not valid html tags.

Actually, those are valid XML tags (HTML4.x) Some tags are silly to have opening and closing tags, line breaks are a good example. < br / > is the same as < br > < /br >.
