What's with the StooK Fuel Gauge??
I consistently run my car down to no bars on the gauge (which doesn't take long to do..
)and I have yet to squeeze in more than 11.5 to 12 gallons at a time.
I typically find that even with no bars on the gauge (and driving around like that for a while) it is still all I can do to squeeze 11 gallons in.
Did I hear something about a calibration error in the ECU, or have the Honda engineers gone very, very conservative on us for fear that we VTECers will run out of gas all the time...?????

If you've squeezed 12 gallons in, you only had about 1 1/2 gallons left! That's not a lot of fuel when it is spread all over the bottom of the tank. Unless Honda has designed a very effective fuel trap in our tanks, I'll bet you'd suck air in a sustained fast corner or parked on a steep hill! I wouldn't cut it that close if I were you.
I see your point, Allan, but I'm saying getting 12 in is only possible when I run the car on "empty" for a while (~30-40 mi.)
Normally, I gas up with a bar or two, and it's more like ten gallons that go in.

Mine shows empty (no bars, assume starting on level ground) at around 10-10.5 gal. Usually that at about 240mi. Although with recent weather -- resulting in little vtec usage, im at 260 with 3 bars still remaining.. MUCH better mileage.
I've been worried several times with the fuel light glowing at me. How far can I go? I usually just fill up at the next gas station and keep wondering.
I usually need about 10 gallons for each fill up. Today I put in the most I ever have during a fill-up, 11.21 gallons. I guess I could've gone a little bit further.
I just don't want to push my S2k to the next gas station.

It's probably not a good idea to run a S2ook out of gas. First your baby will be sitting on the side of the road, Second it's a pain in the keester to start again, Third the excess air in the tank encourages condensation. Why not fill it up when your light comes on or better yet keep it 1/2 full.

I normally rely on the gas light as the indicator of remaining travel distance. On the S2000 and most Hondas except for the Odyssey, a constant gas light means you have approx 10 liters or about 2.6 gallons left in the tank. For me, that means I can conservatively go another 50 miles.
Interesting thing is that in my 00 S2000, I once filled it with 13.52 gallons! Most of my fillups are in the 11.5 to 12.5 gallon range.
BTW, in the Odyssey, the light is constantly on with about 15 liters left in the tank.

In the past, it was a bad idea to run your tank close to empty. Any sediment in the tank would be more likely to get sucked up and clog your fuel filter. Today, maybe gas stations do a better job of filtering the fuel.
