Seems some so called 'reputable' car magazines are ignoring the S2000 lately.

In the latest MotorTrend, there is an article for the WRX towards the end of the mag. Well, they say that the specific output is 113(?) hp per liter, seconded only by the venerable 911 turbo at 118 hp per liter.

Hello????

Ummmmmm....please tell me that I am not going insane here. 2 liters and 240 hp. 240/2 DOES equal 120 does it not?

Why do they ignore the S2000? They claim that the 911 Turbo has the highest output, but that 119 is with a Turbo assistance.

The S2000 get's 120 hp/liter with ALL MOTOR!!! Why are they such ignorant fools to ignore that remarkable achievement? How about giving credit where credit is due! This IS a national outrage!!!!!!

Makes me do this.......

I have three theories:

(1) Editors of Motor Trend are employing that new math that we never took the time to learn in school,

(2) Motor Trend maintenance crews have replaced fluoride in building water supply with hallucinogenics, and

(3) Honda isn't spending enough (read, "any") ad dollars with Motor Trend.

My money is on #3.

I have a guess...

If they compared the WRX's hp/displacement ratio to the S2K's...it wouldn't make the WRX's stat's look so hot being topped by a NA motor of smaller displacement.

The point was to compare it to something of awesome caliber, and turbocharged, to make the WRX's stats shine.

I'd love to get my hands on a wagon though.

I stopped reading MotorTrend a while back, they just seem so weighted towards one kind of car all the time. I would guess this has to do with who pays their bills.

I turn to Road&Track most of the time.

They are both boxer engine (opposed Flat). I'm not sure if you can get extrem high RPM on those engines? I remember Ferrari used to have Flat 12 as well?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Motor Trend is the worst major car rag out there!

Just check their "Car of the Year" picks over the last several decades and you'll see what I mean.

Motor Trend = Garbage

My theory is that both of 911TT and WRX are 4 wheel drive turbo cars.

Still 0-60 in *easily* repeatable 5.6-5.8secs and 1/4
in low 14s for less than 25k is a bargain. Plus, I've
read it somewhere that it isn't too hard to upgrade
WRX to have WRX STi power...

It's just a mistake. Print people make them all of the time too. Write them a letter to the editor, they'll acknowledge the mistake.
