Default Wheel locks on all 4 lug nuts?

Having just picked up my '02 Black S2K, I'm naturally afraid of someone taking my baby away. Planning to install an alarm, but was wondering about the wheel locks. The dealer threw in a set - would you purchase another 3 sets and have wheel locks on EVERY lug nut? Would love to hear your opinions - thx in advance!

I think that'd be a waste, if somebody really wants your car (or your wheels) that probably won't stop them anymore than just one set, IMO.

I think if they really want it (car or wheels), they will get it no matter what stands in the way. Besides, if they can't get it for any reasons, you might be looking at some smashed windows, trashed interior, keyed up paint and 4 slashed tires.

Now, if it was a professional, it just adds some challenge and stirs up the fun-ness for the job ... Ur baby will be gone in no time.

Park the car, pray for the best, and pay your policy on time. Don't mean to scare you, but people just suck. I am speaking from my experiences ..... I hate thieves/robbers.

Just get those spy cameras that you can mount on your car and put a small bar with the words flashing "you are being watched by camera" and make it start flashing when you arm it.

If you lose your wheel lock key, the dealer has a simple tool to remove the wheel lock. It's sorta like the "Gator Grip" (of late-night infomercial fame). So there's no reason to think that pro thieves wouldn't have a similar tool; the only people the wheel locks protect against are neighborhood hooligans.

Frrankly, the best security feature our car's wheels have is their unique high-offset design -- they basically won't fit any other car! So there's little or no market for them, anyway.

twohoos,

Please explain the "unique high-offset design" of the wheels. Thanks.

"Offset" is a parameter of wheel design reflecting how far the mounting surface is from the wheel centerline. The S2K's wheels have an unusually large positive offset that would make them interfere with most other cars' suspension components.

sfgirl-

first of all, congrats on your new S2000 and welcome aboard!

Agree with the above. It's a bit much, really. You don't need all those wheel locks, and besides- there's
a whole list of things to be concerned with; just try not to worry about it. We really shouldn't
worry about things we cannot control. I'm always concerned about someone knifing my top, or keying
the paint, etc., but I've learned to let it go and to simply enjoy my S!

C-you on the road in the South Bay...
