Default Wheel prep for powdercoating

Im about to powdercoat my ap1 wheels black. I have a buddy here in town that will do em for 30 bucks a wheel if I prep them first. What is the best way to prep the wheels???? Thanks

sandblasting wont hurt the wheel will it?? I was told just to scuff em up and that it would stick to them. Hmmm guess i gotta look for a sandblaster if thats the way to go.

There are different kind of "sands" to blast with.
Try to get some info on what to use on alloy wheels.
IMO glass is a good option.
And dont touch them with bare hands after blasting > use gloves.

a better term would be media blasting, not sand blasting.

for just ap1 wheels that dont have a lot of grooves and stuff you could just use aircraft remover

Glass bead (glass) won't work as well as a grit blast (sand)

It won't hurt your wheels

As far as prepping for powdercoat, sandblast them. Sanding them by hand won't get down to bare metal.
