Default wheel repair

as loyal members of this board know, i messed up one of my wheels in a power slide that ended up curbside....
car goes in tomorrow for a new wheel.
the old one is badly scratched, but is not bent.
i know that there are places that repair wheels-
and am wondering if anyone here has used these places.
if so, worked well, and decent price?
i am thinking of getting the old one repaired and keeping it
(just in case!), so am interested in any experiences.

yes, have had my rims repaired... Borbet Type Es. The thing about repair is that they can't add material, genearlly speaking... so they buff it out.. that means it's possible that you might have a dent there... depending on how well the place does it. I've used two different shops... one was better... they buffed out some curbs and reapplied clear coat... $60. worked very well. The 2nd shop was good but was not as careful to detail.

my suggestion is to go to your local discount tires and ask them for a recommendation. They would know as they have to from time to time repair customer rims that they messed up.

seems like price will vary depending on region.

BTW, if it needs to be painted or something it will cost more... otherwise, just refinishing shouldn't be that expensive.

wanabe,

Let me ask a friend of mine where he takes his rims for repair. In his younger days, he was a big time racer, and he knows all the shops around town.

OK, I'll try to get a shop from my friend. I just sent him and e-mail and will forward it on to you when I get a response.
