That's amazing, I can't even do that and my car has about 40 more lb/ft. of torque than a NA S2000. Must be the air out there or something.

As RT pointed out, cold tires make a difference but so does the cold road surface. The road surface may also have more dirt on it. My experience at autocrosses leads me to believe that the temp effects on tires and traction in general have a bigger effect than the engine hp effects.

Agreed, cold tires definitely hurt traction but the cooler air does allow the engine to run stronger. It's generally more noticable on FI cars but it's very noticable on the S as well.

It's the tire/road interaction, NOT the engine. Cold road + cold tires = good wheel spin. With air and road temps hovering in the 40s the last 2 weeks (I hate this place), I can make my car 'skate' on roads that were almost tacky 2 months ago when it was 70+ degrees. The cool air maybe gives you 5-10 hp, and that's at higher RPM, not at 3000 RPM. Beware, if you can spin your tires this easily, it also means you have severely reduced cornering and braking capabilities.

This is why a good cold air extension is a must

HAHA!

One guy has an S4, has a 1/4 time of 14.6@93 in his sig, and he's saying the S2000 is an overpriced Honda.

Another has a heavily modified mustang GT (the 5.0 probably?), basically setup as a drag car, and is proud of beating an S2000 after using nitrous.

"no replacement for displacement" - oh, wait, technology. Not that GM knows what that is. Ironically this statement came from an S2000 owner who I believe posts on this board.

My typical response to any of these guy's comments is: "I'll see you at the track, in my rearview mirror". Drag racing is pointless, and stupid on the streets.
