Default Wheels 101

I'm interested in upgrading my wheels.

There are many posts/threads on wider wheels/lower cars (upgrading from 16" to 17/18/19" wheels).

I can't seem to locate any posts on a simple swap, 16" wheels for 16" wheels. I searched the Tire Rack offerings and all of the wheels appear to be 17" or larger.

I'm perfectly happy with the way my car rides and handles with 16" wheels. I'd just like to lose a few lbs. and individualize my car a bit without worrying about offsets, rolled fenders, even pricier tires, suspension bottoming, rougher ride . . . you get the idea.

Is 16" for 16" a worthwhile mod? Am I missing something? Any personal fav wheels for this mod? Are the advantages to stepping up to 17" wheels so great (and the disadvantages so inconsequential) that I should at least consider this size increase?

If you can find them (I haven't been able to) JDM OEM rims are the exact same size and are lighter. I think they look better too.

Here's a pic. Not my car

I would agree with Woodson, if you want to keep the 16" but be lighter, go with the JDM option which are BBS.

Or you could wait a month and go for the 17" stock rims of the MY04'

The Honda OEM wheels, I believe, are manufactured by Enkei. Not a bad wheel. There is no significant advantage unless you go to a much lighter wheel which = big $$.

The standard OEM wheels are Enkei, the JDM option wheels are BBS.

You could try 17" Konig Heliums. They weigh about 13 pounds and look really good!

I'm here to blow the living shit out of high prices! (anyone remember USED CARS?) BWAHAHAHA

My 16-inch Rota's weigh 13.5-lbs, have a 45 offset (not perfect but if done right, IOW, 205/225 tires, they tuck in nicely) and cost me $500 shipped. Pretty amazing they can make a 13.5-lb cast wheel that is darn near as light as a forged wheel but twice as durable. Not for everyone (at least the black wheels I chose) but not a bad choice, especially if you plan on Auto X'ing or track racing your S2000.
