Default Wheels got stolen, need advice!

Hey everyone. I want to start off by saying that I can count on one hand how many times I've left the S outside during the night. Ok, with that said... I was visiting my parents Friday night and had to leave the S behind the garage since it was late when I arrived and my folks were already asleep. Needless to say, Saturday morning I went outside to see it sitting on cinder blocks! Yup, they clean sweeped the factory wheels and tires! I am thankful that the blocks were directly underneath the frame and NO damage was done to any other part of the vehicle. Yesterday I spent most of the day figuring out how to move it since it had no wheels. Obviously, you can't tow it so I called all my buddies and luckily found 3 other donut tires. After doing that, I pulled it into their garage where it would be safe. After speaking to the insurance, I found my deductible is only $200. Also, according to the local Honda dealership, factory S2000 wheels and tires are $2,850 before tax. Now, here is my question. Is it possible to get the check directly from the insurance company and use it towards after market wheels? Or will I have to get the same wheels and tires as before? I've never filed an insurance claim so this is all new to me and was hoping some of you guys can help me out. Thanks a lot.

Yes you can. Talk to your insurance agent.

Call the Ins adjuster and ask. I have seen another owner get to have aftermarket wheels, but they had already commited to the OEM's and they where ordered before he could get the OK.

The worst thing they can say is No.

Good luck, and be on the look out a for a Prelude with your wheels on it (Only the fronts fit). Oh and get a set of wheel lock too.

Don't forget if you were looking at aftermarket rims nows the time to probably get them. You could use the money for the OEMs and instead use them towards the one's you want.

no no no, get the money from the insurance agent, buy some used stock wheels on this forum ($300-$600) so you'll have wheels to use right away (stock too) and then use the remaining money to purchase aftermarket wheels. dont rush your decision on aftermarket wheels. most important factor is to buy wheels with the CORRECT OFFSETS!!!

actually, find out if you can get a check cut to you first... if that's a go, then look here for used wheels + tires and purchase asap. then you'll minimize waiting for wheels and can take your time shopping for aftermarket ones.

There is no point in getting another set of stock wheels if you're gonna get a set of aftermarket wheels later, unless you want to use the stock wheels for racing.

Besides it's not like there are a lot of choices when you're looking for aftermarket wheels.

The only wheels that I'd put on my S2000 are

Volks CE28
Prodrive GC
Work Emotion
Buddy Club P1 Racing QF
BBS RG-R
SSR Type C
Mugen MF10

Why go through the time and hassle of buying used wheels?
Shop for some beautiful wheels and tires [he knows what he likes, and not that many wheels will fit correctly] charge 'em on your credit card, and get the check from the insurance company and pay off your card.
A whole lot easier!!!
