Definitely in the winter, but you're in CA so "winter" is not really winter.

If there are any MY04's sitting around dealer lots this winter, I'd expect you could get one for possibly under $30k. There were '03's going for $28.5-29k at the end of last year.

According to my local Honda dealer, now is the best time to buy a MY04.

But seriously, it all comes down to when you want to start enjoying your S2000.

If you're able to save 1K per month, why not buy it now and make extra payments and burn the book early!

thanks for the input the thought has crossed my mind to go and get it right now! the only reason why i have hesitated is the fact that my payments would be so high compared to waiting and putting a larger downpayment. the last thing i would need to worry about is all the extra financial responsibilities that come with this car granted im only 24, and the insurance would get me with high rates!!!!!!!!!

If you can put down $8000 and you can save $1000 a month, how worried can you be about car payments?

Decide what you want to pay, and get all your arrangements in order, and then scout some dealerships that have the color you want. Wait until the last day of the month (hopefully a weekday) and hit every dealer you selected earlier. Make your offer, and tell them you can buy the car in under one hour if they agree. If they don't accept your offer in under 10 minutes, then walk. Bring a stopwatch with you.

To answer your question, I would wait until February. The worst time of the year in the Bay Area. OR... maybe the end of March, which is also the end of the 1st Quarter of 2005. That might have a special significance to the dealer's sales figures.
