pop the hood...on the passenger side in the black plasitic between the windshield and engine bay. IIRC you have to pull out some plastic rivets and you'll be able to see it. You slide it out from there.

interesting... the shop manual calls it an "a/c filter"
(page 21/42)

it says to replace 30k miles or 15k under extreme conditions.

In where I live (New York City) ... I probably need to change it ever 7000 miles -- the air's just utter crap here ...

Under hood on battery side behind fire wall. GENTLY lift up rubber seal that goes across the engine compartment. There is a tray in there. Remove old filter and snap new one in place. If you do not have small hands don't even try it. I change mine every 12 months. You are working more by feel than sight.
