comes on when you have low oil.. turn your car off.. wait a little bit and check your oil.. if it is low.. have it on a flatbed to where you can add more oil or have oil brought to you.. if it flash on and off. than you are almost low on oil cuz the oil is moving around when your driving

I agree. That is why you need to check your ol at least once a wek if not more depending on how you drive. A little bit of time and common sence can go a long way in saving you big bucks down the road

The dipstick is a gauge, not an absolute. As long as you are between low and full on the dipstick you are fine, just add about half a quart if you really want to be on the full end for oil. Remember, overfilling is worse than being low.

For the light to come on, you probably need to be down at least two full quarts for the pressure to be low enough. I haven't seen it on an S2000, but I saw the low oil light on a Saturn SL once - the light came on this chick's car and when I checked, the dipstick was bone dry! Two and a half quarts later, the bottom of the dipstick finally touched oil again....

Saki, I've always been under the impression that a little extra oil over full would be fine. The general rule of thumb being that when the sump is so overfilled that the crankshaft is frothing up the oil is the "too much" mark. I've run 1/2 qt to a 3/4 qt over the High X on the dipstick with no oil frothing. I've also had a few UOAs done to make sure the oil is doing its job well too.

Though I think you meant that an extra 2 qts over full is probably around the too overfilled mark.

Hey, why press your luck in either direction? Its a lot easier to add a bit of oil than to get excess out of the pan, so why not just stay in the range on the dipstick?

we have a oil PRESSURE sensor, not a oil LEVEL sensor. the light will come on when there is serverly low oil pressure, ( i believe under 5 psi)
