Default When to get first oil change?

I just got my car and want to know when to my first oil change? I've heard 7500 miles on this forum, but the sticker on my winshield says 3500.

Where are you located? It should be 7500 miles. The Maint Req'd light on the dash will come on when it's time. Don't change it early and don't use synthetic oil until your second change.

I assume for most people, it would be 3750 for the first oil change?

What your owner's manual says. The first change shouldn't be too soon, the engine is breaking in for the first 10K miles or so. Follow your owner's manual, it's correct.

The owner's manual does not say the engine is breaking in for 10,000 miles. Go read the section on break-in procedures and then come back here and tell everyone what it really says.

mike:
The owner's manual is probably in the secret compartment. That is where most of them are. Recommended oil change interval is 7500 miles or 3750 for severe service. Severe service would be defined in the same way it would be for any other car.

actually it's quite the opposite. very few people actually qualify under what would be called "severe" conditions.

as cthree said. the manual is correct.

if you want, you can change it at 5000, but if you do, use convention oil such as honda oil or mobil drive clean for your first change. wait til 10k or so before you'd use synthetic.
