Hell it's meant to be driven and it's a Honda. She'll take care of you if you take care of her

I'm in the market for my second S2K, viewing one today actually (can't wait!!!). Had to sell the BB S2K two years ago.
As others said here, number of owners and the level of care that's gone into it are more important.
Full service history would be very important as well, unless some of the work has been done by the owner.

Always take someone with you for car viewing who has a respectable level of understanding when it comes to buying a car.
They'll ask and look for things you might not think of or forget to ask about.

203k miles, I spun a bearing Friday night on a return leg of a 700 mile non stop... the stupid me told myself at my last fill up... no, I checked the oil before I left town... yea..... some 500 miles ago...

on the positive side... I've been reading everyone's upgrades and mod's.. I have wanted a reason to Mod something.. would have rather not.. but hey.. this, is what my horoscope has to say...

If it feels hopeless today, take heart -- you hold the key to success. It's not all that often that you can rely solely on yourself, but today gives you the opportunity to do just that. Take charge

No Worries.. thanks a lot....

i have 140k miles on my s2000. i pushed for an AP1 bc i wanted to the rawness before they remodeled for a more street friendly one. I DD it for 3.5 years was great fun and enjoyed it i put 50k miles on it. (bout it 2009 a 2003 ap1 with 87k miles) bout it cash 11.5k it currently sits in my garage and i dd a 4dr itr powered integra, for more space and better gas mileage.

I agree, they are, the "rules"... But you know as well as I know that cars trading hands every 10-30k miles aren't generally cared for in the same sense that a long termer is, the 3-5+ owner cars being the example. There are exceptions, like yourself. There aren't many exceptions though... And the next owner, should you sell your car, will appreciate that very much. I'm the same way, and have no issues selling cars with 100k+ miles for 30%+ more than the alternatives.
Too many people own these cars for 6 months and then sell it.... Giving some lame excuse...The Imola Orange 2007 that's for sale, dude had it for only 3 months, probably a "buy and flip".

^ that happens. There are exceptions though; some people don't keep cars for very long. I use to switch cars every 6-8 months or so. My current S is the only exception, I owned it for 9 months and counting. Can't wait to break a year of ownership. You can never know how each owner treated the cars. The majority of my cars sold while in prestine condition, even though I only owned them for a short period of time.

Exceptions to long termers and low mileage cars of course do exist.

Live example. Yesterday I went for a low mileage S2K '05 model with 41k on the clock. 1 owner bought new from Honda so not an Import.
Guy who owns it said the car was in excellent condition that's why the price was that high (over the phone).

Got there expecting a well treated S2K and almost certain this was it.
Started checking with my cousin who's a car mech and first thing we notice are two tears on the hood.
Front bumper had been resprayed and did not adjust well. Rear bumber had chipped paint where it meets the headlights due to a small collision in the back.
Left side skirt had a huge scratch which removed the paint altogether.
Small scratches on hood, sides etc.
Rear tires heavily worn and in need of replacement asap.

Driver's and Passenger's leather seat was worn and scratched.

Time to test drive...clutch not smooth but more like a spongy feel at first, got a bit better as driving progressed.
Vtec engagement was perfect and live. Engine was strong. No pulling on either side under sudden braking.
Steering seemed a bit on the heavy side but I'm not sure if that's because it's been two years since I got to drive an S2K.

Lesson learned and the hunt continues.

I bought mine with 200,000+ miles on it a few years back. I pulled the trigger and didn't bother being very thorough with inspection because its a Honda. Their the epitome of reliability. To this very day, everything is still working, and I'm looking forward to hitting 300,000 miles someday. Just do your regular maintenance and you'll be fine.

After 100k miles, make sure all the bushings are good, and maintenance has been done on time.

Exactly. I passed on multiples in different states due to misleading descriptions...
