Default When to park w/ top down?

I'm a new vert owner, and was wondering if anyone is willing to share your own "rules" for when to leave the top down while parked for relatively short periods of time. Is this a trendy thing? Anyone ever get any damage while doing this? I seem to notice alot of the Porsche owners leaving their tops down while parked at the mall, restaurants, etc. Appreciate any input. Hey, gotta get this right, so someone will think I know what I'm doing!!

Thanks// Tom

in 5 years my top has only been up when i am washing the car or if it is raining hard... and even then i try to outrun the rain (normally a rare thing here in so cal anyway)

i keep hands outta the car and dings off of it cause its always covered by the soft cushioned honda cover when i am not in it. if i am just running into a store quickly, i park out in east nowhere-
so far my car looks like it did the day i got it!

In Miami, I put the top up. I have a Radar Detector, Sirius Recievr, and a sunpass. I don't wanna go through a ritual of hiding my stuff every time get out of the car. Besides, we have a lot of "happy" birds in this city. It only takes 6 seconds to put the top down anyways.

I leave the top down when parked for no more than a few hours in safe areas with a fair amount of foot traffic. I'm hoping that the foot traffic deters vandals or thieves.

I tend to only leave my top down when in areas my car is easialy visible or I know it's going to be a short while. I usually put the windows up that way a would be theif would have a more difficult time reaching anything, oh and I lock the middle compartment.

If my car is parked out of view, the top is up.

I leave the top down when at my gym. Usually down for about 2hrs with alot of traffic coming by.

Of course I feel safe seeing 3 Corvettes, a Viper, and a Carrera vert all with their tops down in the same lot.

I recently added an interior proximity sensor to my S so I can leave the top down with a "little" more piece of mind. It will page me if anyone sticks their hands in it's field of view (whole interior + some). It also sets the alarm off and activates the kill switch.

It went off today when I was at the post office because some jackass in a rice'd out Civic had his face pressed up against the glass trying to look inside

I usually put it up anyway and still arm the prox. sensors because I worry too much about it.... top only takes 6 seconds to go up and down and it's still under warranty so why not?
