Thumbs up When should I do my 1st oil change ?

I am alittle confused as to when I should change my oil. As you guy aware the 06 came with "oil % life remaining" meter. My car now at 1800 miles and the oil meter said i still have 80% of oil life left. I only drive about 4500 miles per year so at this rate it would be 2 years before I need an oil change.
The manual does not say 6 months or 3k miles what ever comes first like most car. The dash will light up with a letter "A" when service is due.
I am not gonna wait 2 years so when should I do it ? Thanks guys. or gals.

Do it after the first 6 months, since you have conventional oil in there. Also, be sure to use conventional for the first 7500 miles or so.

6 months for sure since it's conventional.

I'm wondering what Honda is thinking when they stopped putting mileage and time intervals in the new owner's manual for this car. I would like to think that even though a person may not drive the car that much, that the ECU will keep track of time and throw that light on when it's due. I highly doubt it will let you wait 2 years. I'm betting that the ECU WILL tell you when the "time" interval has arrived.

On the 06 Accord (which has the same Oil % deal) it comes on after 5k miles....I think, if not i know its right around there. I cant imagine honda making the interval longer on the S2k than a 4cyl Accord.

i think theres a page in the 06 manual that mentions to change it after 12 months,
if oil life is still at a reasonable % or if the service indicator has not come on
I guess more people should READ THE OWNER'S MANUAL!

i asked my dealer yesterday about my first oil change since I don't drive much.

He said to change the oil within 12 months from the time I bought my car..and I know my car was sitting at the dealer lot for months.

you could follow the extreme conditions schedule, which is 3750 miles i think.
