When you VTEC, do you hit redline all the time?

Just wondering what everyone does?

I almost always hit redline everytime I go above 6k rpm. Can't help it since it is such a wonderful feeling...

happy VTECing...

I know it's probably best to shift at 8,300, but I take it to nine just to see it glow and hear it growl for a second more. I have yet to hit the rev limiter.

8500-8700 then shift! I'd love to hit the limiter but I just don't have the guts!

The rev limiter doesn't kick in until 9100 or 9200 rpm. I routinely rev it to 9000 rpm without hitting the limiter. Sometimes the "red zone" will flash and sometimes it doesn't. But there is alot of usable power above 8300 rpm. Make use of it!

I usually hit the limiter cause my mind is somewhere else. Although it does happen at least once every other day. I guess I need to work on that eh?

That's correct, ITR. VTEC starts at about 6000 rpms. Resisting the impulse of running to red line is just a matter of discipline and will power.

I usually take it up to 9, but sometimes I'll bring it up to 7 or 8 and listen to the engine decelerate...I love that sound!

I would say 80% of the time I VTEC I redline. BTW, rev limiter is there to work for you. So don't be afraid to redline.

Sometimes I hit redline, but most of the time I probably shift around 8500 rpm

I hit rev limiter for the first time last new year's eve. My one friend was home from Indiana and I wanted to show him what the S2K's got. I took him out on one of my favorite backroads. I went to pass someone, put it into second gear going about 35 and punched it. I was paying too much attention to going around the person in front of me to realize how quickly it went to redline. I hit rev limiter, then put it in third. No big deal, kinda scared me though. Back to the question, about 75% of the times I go past 6k I go at least to 8500. Most of the time I shift before 4k to save gas, but when I bust out the vtec it's all or nothing.
