I read mine cover to cover right after I signed all of the paperwork and learned all about how to open the hood/gas tank/secret compartment as well as what to do when you get a flat rear tire.

I still say it's all about service,I'm not saying a sales person should sit with you and get into changing tires, tire pressure etc...but the basics(such as the hood latch)are basics that should be pointed out to you.I'd worry if at the end of the deal the salesperson just tossed me the keys and said to go read the manual.Any new vehicle I've ever purchased before I left the lot the salesperson spent time with me showing me the "basics" of the car.Perhaps because I work in a service related business this means more to me than others.
A agree the saleman should have pointed out where the hood release was but I continue to be amazed by people who buy a new car and don't take the time to read the manual. Shame on them. Also why put such a question on this board? Why not look it up in the owner's manual?
More important than knowing how to get the hood open, is knowing how to close it properly. Remember, the hood is lightweight aluminum, and must be dropped from somewhere between the belt buckle or chest(your mileage may vary) to allow the weight of the hood to latch. If you place the hood down to the latch and then press it closed, it can dent....

I read my owner's manual and have been looking for my Acura ever since
Shame on Honda for even thinking about badging the S as an Acura, and worse yet, not doing a simple 'find and replace' in the owner's manual.
