Default Where's the market on the S2K?

I bought an M3 in November '06 and put my '04 S2000 up for sale --- I still haven't sold it! WTF???? I've received very few offers (3) and all of them have been FAR below my asking price which has always well below KBB value for "Good" condition. Aside from one door ding the car is in excellent condition so I don't feel I'm asking too much. It seems this car has absolutely no market anymore and I'm in probably one of the best markets for convertibles (Phoenix, AZ).

It's currently listed at $22,000 and has 28500 miles. The offer I was given today was $20,000. I could sell it to a damn dealership for that! It's the second S2000 I've owned. I owned a '00 model as well and sold that when I bought the '04. That one took a few months to sell but at least I got almost what I was asking for. I used to love the S2K. I'm starting to hate it now.

Well that sucks... Why don't you just keep it and drive it? It sounds like its worth more to you anyway... well minus the hate thing.

tell them to meet you at the middle, most of the time you'll never win the car selling game if you really need to sell

Well, a couple of weeks ago when I traded in my 04 SSM, I only got $18700 for it from the Honda dealer. The thing is, mine had only 19k miles on it and in good condition as well. I bought it used and wanted a new one so I didn't care too much as I noticed they already had 3 used ones on the lot already. So if I were you, I'd take the $20k offer and be over with it.

Yeah, the whole used car market is fubar now days.. It is hard to sell it for what it is "valued" and when you go to buy used it is usually marked jsut over "value" and not a whole lot of room for negotiation. I bought my car for 18k and it was a 2001 with 43k miles. Around here you hardly EVER see an s2000. I took it for a a test drive and was sold. You have to find the enthusiast to get what it is worth plain and simple.

Don't you have to be a member to post a "for sale" advertisement?

I've spent a lot of time in AZ... I may be incorrect, but I would imagine the market there works where its easier to sell in the winter, due to summer heat being so bad. Though, since you've been trying to sell since November, that is not completely explained... if you are not desperately needing to sell, I'd keep it and keep driving it and at least hold out through the next winter, it should be easier to sell in AZ then.
