Default Whistling AEM CAI?

I've had my AEM CAI for a few months, so I'm accustomed to the "humming" sound it makes. In the last week or so, I'm hearing a higher-pitched whistling, almost like a dog whistle that sounds like it's coming from the filter end. I only hear it when it echos off solid walls that I pass. I've checked all the clamps and nothing's loose. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

AEM CAI's always whistle. Yours has probably always done this. It's just that you hear it more when you get the "bounce back" from driving next to something tall. Also, as your filter gets dirty, the noise will change slightly. No biggie.

That may be it. Maybe temperature affects the sound? We've had a cold snap down here (40's overnight) and that's when I started to notice it.

My Injen has always done it at about 3000-4000 RPM's.

I insalled my CAI last week. I talked to a pro shop before taking the plunge... I didn't want any droning or whistling as the K&N drop-in I installed was a whistler. He sold me on an AEM clone w/ an open end filter and a cool little noise reducer within the filter, not foam but open.

So, I have installed a "who know's brand" he ordered for me and it sounds exacly like stock with a little more throat top to bottom. It looks identical to AEM, silver color(matches my Sebring like crazy) hoses etc. I absolutely love it. That droning/hum stuff drives me more nutz than the whistle- My driving since install drive's my lady even more nutz-

My AEM for the S, has always whistled..... 2500 to 4000 rpm with medium throttle......

Hit the trottle heavy and it goes away... barely use the throttle and it goes away... so my choices are:

1. get up to speed real slow
2. drive with a heavy foot and get up to speed fast
3. stay in VTEC all my life!!

The V2 I put on my RSX-S doesn't whistle....

When I talked to AEM a year or so ago.... they made it sound like they never heard of a intake making a whistling noise... they were of no help.

Would be interesting to find out why some S's don't whistle, and some do.... heard the same complaint about some Injen's CAI installations also...

Sounds like due to the shape of the intake that its creating a vortex somewhere. If I take the lower piece and the filter off, it will still whistle.
