who does your maintance?
do you do it? or?
I don't really trust the dealership... infact, i've never taken my other cars in for maintance work... I've done them all myself. The question is: how do you "prove" to the dealership, if needed, that you did the work yourself?

I get my maintenance from a racing mechanic that does gearhead work on the side, and I watch and/or help out with the process. I don't worry too much about maintenance records, as I only care that my baby is maintained relentlessly. When major work is done, I get all receipts, and pay all the taxes. Those I file with my stook records, a file that is getting rather thick.

You must maintain objective evidence that the service was performed in accordance with the specified maintenance schedule to ensure your warranty is not compromised. I bring my service manual and have the receipt specify what EXACT service was performed no matter who does the service, dealer or otherwise(i.e. replaced air filter per 2001 Honda Service Manual 11-120). While this may seem anal...I don't trust service techs in general. If I do the work myself I keep the same copious records. If you have a thorough maintenance history, your car will be worth more when you sell it and you won't have any problems should a warranty claim be needed.
