I was just wondering the success rate of the Honda Service Bulletin (00-055) 1-2 grind fix.

Anyone has had any success stories?

Thanks,

Thanks,

mine seems to be ok. except for the now stiffer 1-2-3 shifting feel (not as lively as before), no grinds, and the trans feels a bit smoother. someone mentioned that the stiffness in the stick (no pun intended) is normal, and i can feel it loosening a bit after 4 days.

word of advice for those of you living in LA, especially on the west side: take your fix to santa monica honda. now that they've used my car as the guinea pig, their mechanic would be far more experienced in doing the fix. call them up and ask for Ron Gee (pronounced Jee), and tell him Richard Ming with the S2000 sent you guys his way.

mingster,

Thanks! I hope my care will be cured also.

I lost a race to a new Z28 by a mere bumper because of the grind. What I wouldn't give to re-match that guy with a bugless tranny.

Got my car back yesterday. So far, so good. I also had driver's window motor replaced, driver's seat belt mechanism replaced and a few minor things done. 5 DAYS IN THE SHOP!!!

I am REALLY glad to have it back.

No more grind
But the tranny makes alot more noise than it did before

The car was in the shop for 2 weeks and it looks like I will have to take it back.
I'll be calling them tomorrow

I hate Honda

Even though I told them on the phone when I made the appointment that I would need a clutch and confirmed with a fax three weeks BEFORE I took the car in.. they did not order the clutch until they took it out and looked at it. So my car has been in the shop for NINE days and counting waiting on a clutch (one of the three components). Stupid incompetence as far as I am concerned!

I think it would be very helpful to those of us who have dealers which think the grind TSB does not exist to give the dealerships name, location, phone number, and contact info if at all possible. My dealer seems to be underinformed, and has doubts about the TSB's mere existance. Thanks.

It must be a virus that's going around to Honda service departments.

I guess you could always print it for them, but that is what they have a tech line for. All they have to do is make one phone call. That dealership sounds even more incompetent than the one I am dealing with!
