Who has the lightest S2K? How much improvement (1/4, 0-100, etc)?

I read a comparison between a Mustang Cobra-R (5.4L S/C, 385HP) versus Lotus Elise (1.8L N/A, 195HP) on a car magazine.
The Lotus beats Mustang in every categories:
- 1/4 speed is 110MPH vs. 106MPH
- Lateral G is 1.02g vs. 0.95g
- Lap time is 3 seconds faster

The Lotus weighs 1700lb and Mustang weighs 3800lb.
I figure if we can lower the S2K weigh to 2200lb, it has a chance to beat this Lotus.

I am curios to what other people has done to "slim" their S2K and improvement gains.

I'm curious about this also. I think King Motorsports red mugen tuned S2000 might take this prize, i'm pretty sure i read awhile ago that they removed the softtop and its motor to cut back weight & did other weight reduction to that car.

The #58 red King Motorsports car that ran in SCCA T2 was mandated to run at 2700 lbs. No weight reduction is allowed on this car in this class other than removing the softop and motor, and the factory roll bars, and even then, you must run a cage and a hardtop.

There are storys of a guy who took his down to 2000 flat and another of someone who got the car to 1700 pounds but I have not seen documented evidence. Apparently they took everything out. If it did not make the car go or stop it came out. Dashes carpets air conditioning, lightened body panals the whole bit. Apparently it is now racing somewhere in europe.

A cell phone and a roadside assistance card (AAA, Honda extended warranty) is a lot lighter than the spare, lug wrench, and jack.

The "Lotus" in question was a Sun International Elise powered by a Type-R motor. This is not a real Lotus.

One of the great Lotus philosophies - Add lightness.

I definitely do not have the lightest S2000, but I removed and/or changed the following:

Wheels & tires save 25lbs
SpareTire & jack save 35lbs
Mugen Header save 10lbs
Mugen Exhaust save 24lbs
AEM Intake save 2lbs
J's CF Hood save 5lbs
Odyssey 680 Dry Cell save 11lbs

I have taken out over 100 pounds and I haven't noticed anything! I am sure that I am "a little" faster... but I think if you are to notice anything you got to do more....

Next is the TODA Flywheel (save 6 lbs WHERE IT COUNTS)

Then A/C (I have heard it is about 40 lbs)....

Then....diet... too much work in front of the computer+too much beer=fat engineer

I'm on a diet.
14 lb gone. 26 to go.

I've thought about driving naked, but I haven't tried it. It is snowing right now as I talk and my soft top never sees the light of day.
