Bump to the top! Because I love my intake!

I put a K&N on it and made an airbox for it , pics coming soon!

I don't have a show car and I don't have millions of dollars for mods. But I am crafty when it comes to homemade car mods. . .flame on Weapon - R haters!!! Don't like the stock filter( get a K&N ) , worried about heatsoak ( rubbermaid 12 quart container fixes that ) I have my side ducts cut out and ram air for fresh outside air.

Heat wraps will NOT eliminate heat soak. Anyone who tells you that is trying to sell 'em. Do a quick research to learn what causes heat soak and you'd agree.

I agree in the sense that the wraps solve a problem no one asked, because the amount of heat transfer is insignficant. . I have done the math on the SVT Cobra, but there is nothing here different enough to make me want to re-calculate it. Based on the diameter of the tubing and the velocity of air moving through it, the aluminum to air exchange of heat is insignificant, perhaps a few degrees* in terms of the intake.

*and that is worst case with a fairly thermally efficient transfer medium like aluminum. (The Spoon and Mugen intakes use CF, which is less conductive). Black would be a good heat soak color, but most of them are silver, so they resist radiant heat pretty well. The real heat soaker in the S2000 is the intake tract, which pulls heat by thermal conductivity from the thin gasket, not by thermal transfer radiated or conducted via the air. That is the basis for the success of the Hondata gasket. Read UL's and others definitive work in the Hondata gasket postings.

Ohm's Law has never been mnore misapplied than in this thread.

good grief! I was using Ohm's law to help explain the relationship between length, radius and resistance to flow. I have to explain this principle over, and over with my work (vascular surgery, managing patients on ventilators (its part of the reason perform tracheostomies on patients that can't get off of a vent.) and I have found that students and families understand it easier vs. trying to exaplain Bernoulli's/ Poiseuille's . Second, I think it was pretty clear in my follow up post, how Ohm's law is applied to fluid flow.
Here's some more information.
[B]Poiseuille's law

Relation to electrical circuit
Poiseuille's law corresponds to the Ohm's law for electrical circuits, where pressure drop

...and I thought I was creative with intakes! That's a good one with the RubberMaid.
I have thought of that before but couldn't get around to seeing it in my engine bay. Everytime
I went to Home Depot to buy one, I would change my mind while holding it. LOL

I see it and from a heat protective standpoint, it should be very effective but you
HAVE to be getting some weird resonances at WOT. Then again, with the engine
sound at WOT, you probably aren't even hearing 'em.
Well done.

It is still very loud , the box slightly muffles the sound at lower RPM's but it still sounds great at VTEC with no obvious resonance or buzzing like the Comptech.
