Do iridium or something like splitfire make any performance difference? what are pros/cons of aftermarket plugs? How often do sparkplugs need to be changed?
Honda states that the OEM plugs are good for 107K miles or 7 years. Personally, even if they do last that long, I wouldn't leave them uninspected for that long. A responsible car owner would inspect them once a year and make a judgement call at that time.
We've had a few failures with the Denso Iridium plugs with Forced Induction. However, for NA applications, some have indicated that they felt Iridium plugs make their cars run better. Who knows what this means.
Copper plugs (including things like "Splitfires") should work as good if not better than Platinum plugs but they don't last very long. For a NA car, these should be changed every 10K to 15K miles. For FI, much sooner.
Spark plugs, like most things, become an exercise in compromise.

I think the Spoon plugs are re-boxed DENSO IK22's or somesuch. I'm pretty sure they're iridium plugs. I think I'm going to stick with the OEM NGK's. I agree with Xviper and will at least check, probably change the factory plugs very soon. No way I'm waiting 100,000 miles.

Maybe IK24s

"I" stands for Iridium with Denso and "22" represents the OEM heat range. I can't tell ya if Spoon actually does this.
This car is so highly tuned and history has shown that a/f can have a hiccup and go weird. Leaving any plug in this engine unchecked for 107K miles is sorta like
derelict of owner duty".
