How many miles were on the car when you had to replace it, what were you doing at the time (launch, hwy drive?). Who hasn't had to replace their diff and how many miles are on your car. Thanks fellers

Dude, this thread is kinda worthless if you are looking to gather data on diff failures. It would be only marginally better if it was a poll.

Good luck.

MY00, 48,000 miles, never the first problem with the car, so of course I still have the original diff.

Nearly 80k miles, lots of autocrosses and track days, a handful of launches, same diff.

First S2000 (MY2001):

48,000 miles. Over 1000 launches at the track, and also hard driving at auto-x events. Never a single problem.

<cut to...
insert ex-fiancee who made me get rid of the 1st S2000
end cut>

Second S2000 (MY2002): 46,000 miles on the original diff, with somewhere around 600-800 launches on it, as well as auto-x driving. I have now upgraded to the comptech diff in preparation for FI. Had I not planned on going FI I would have never upgraded my diff.

I would imagine the stock differential lasting longer than the engine if the car was maintained properly, and not abused like a red-headed step child.
