Default Whoa!

Wow! If you guys have never tightened your throttle cable, then you should go do it now! The difference is amazing. I wouldn't have had as much trouble learning to drive the car if I had done this when I first got it. Go do it!!!

Thanks for sharing. How did you do this exactly? Was it easy?

Since you have an 05 it might not be necessary. It took all of 5 minutes. The adjustment is on the cable. If there is anyone on here that has pic, please post. Unfortunately I have to leave right now. No time to post pics. Anyone to help for now? I'll explain later. Sorry.

i would post, but mine is a model 06... its DBW. i did this for my old celica, there should be a throttle cable right in front of you when you open the hood, can't miss it. use an open head wrench and there should be some kind of hex nut there that controls the tension... or at least thats what i found in my toyota. it works wonders, but dont pull it too tight or your idle will also go up and you'll be burning lotsa gas

i did this within the first 2 days of owning my car. you should tighten it so it has about a half inch of movement of either side when you push on it. mine had like 2 inches of slack it was nutz.

this is one of the most noticeable improvements i've done to the car. the feel is so much better on the pedal that your a retard if you don't do this maintenance. seriously its so simple and it makes the whole driving experience better...pulling out is easier. you have more throttle control that feels like its 100x better than before.

there are two nutz you have to adjust on either end of the end of the cable's shell...you tighten one and then tighten the other. you might need two tools to get it tight...wrench + socket+ratchet...

I did it a few years ago when the thread was first mentioned, but I haven't checked it lately. Maybe I should.
