Who's got 18" wheels?
I posted this in the Tire and wheel forum a long time ago and haven't really gotten any useful responses in months so i'll try here. I need new tires. I'd like them to be extremely high performance dry weather tires with decent wet performance. I drive slow in the rain so they don't have to be great, just usable. I mentioned the Nitto 555's in my other post but that forum is heavily Tire Rack influenced so i didn't get a good opinion. Obviously price is always an issue. Any good suggestions? right now i'm running Kumho 712's, 225 fronts and 255 rears. They are very decent for the price but i'd like to spend a little bit more and get a lot more.

I've had experience with two tires on my 18's (265s, though)
BFG TA K/D:
-Very sticky on dry land but useless if there's a drop on the road.
-Noisy like a 4wd with super swampers.
-Wear very quickly.
-Very wide and square compared to other tires the same size, so they could rub when others don't.
-not cheap.
Dunlop SP Sport FM901:
-affordable (probably among the cheapest for an S with 18s)
-more rounded shoulder for more predictable breakaway (than the BFGs, anyway
)
-a little whiny at the limits of adhesion, but plenty quiet otherwise.
-wear a little less quickly.
-a little better in the rain.
Hope this helps a little. BTW, my next set of tires will either be S03s (if I get Volks) or AVS Sports (if I get ADVANs)

I have Michelin Pilot Sports, 225 40 front, 255 35 rear. They are fantastic in the dry and outstanding in the wet. They cost much, but wear much better (I'll get at least 20,000 on the rears). So in the end, they turn out to be a better value than tires that don't wear as well.
I highly recommend the Yoko ES100's. Great dry performance, I would say just a step under the S-02's. Wet performance is much better. I wouldn't go takin corners fast in the car period, but the ES100's seemed to do much better than the S-02's to me. Price is decent, rear is just a TAD longer than S-02's.
Good luck in your choice.
