it's not anywhere but the US because the US is the only country in the world that bitches about the torque of the 2.0l engine.

Because Japanese people are not torque-craving maniacs like us here in the good-ol USA (don't forget about the Canadians).

In the US it seems as if dragging is pretty much the end all of what determines a fast car.

Because Japanese autos are taxed by engine size. Also because the S2000 was designed to race in the 2.0L class, not the 2.0L+ class.

Karl, there may be some validity to your second point but the difference in tax between a 2 litre and a 2.2 litre engine is bugger all and not worth splitting hairs over, never mind being a justification for keeping the engine at a reduced capacity.

I think there is plenty of torque in the 2.0 liter. However, I did drive a friend's 04' and it did have a little bit more "pull" than mine.
