Default Why is my top cover different?

I just saw a friend of mines soft top cover and it seems that the sides of my cover extends down more than his. Is there a reason it's different? Who has the better version?

Is yours the same year as his? If his is a MY2000 or 2001, it has a plastic rear window. If you have a MY2002 or 2003, it has a glass rear window. Supposedly, there is a different configuration between the two. Just a guess on my part.

If his was a MY00 it could be a pre-recall cover

NO. If YOURS is an MY00 it could be a pre recall cover. I have both - I didn't give my original back when I received the replacement.

The only difference I have noticed is the 00/01's (plastic window) have 5 snaps while the 02's (glass window) has less. Don't remember the actual number.

If it's the pre-recall version you may want to get it replaced if you use it. The recall had to do with the fact that the cover interfered with proper operation of the seat belts when tall people are in the car, if memory serves me correctly.

In the 2000 model year S2000, if you recline the seat one notch from standard and slide the seat all the way back, the seatbelt rubs against the old boot cover so that it doesn't maintain the optimal tension. If you leave the boot cover off or have the new (recall) version, the seatbelt doesn't rub and maintains the proper tension.

Being 6' 1" tall, I find that the seatbelt rubs my left shoulder in a manner that becomes annoying after a few hours. Sometimes I let it hang off my shoulder slightly so that it doesn't rub me raw. That and the lack of lower back support are the ONLY complaints I can come up with for the S2000. They're both minor compared to the enjoyment the car gives me.

My MY02 has four -- two on straps that snap just behind each door, and two more that snap behind and below each rollbar.

It's a royal PITA to attach.
